About the Creator

Hi! I’m Karen — a Registered Nurse with my BSN and PHN, plus 16 years of experience in nursing homes, hospitals, education, and public health.  A few years ago, I had a serious motorcycle accident while traveling abroad. Even though I’m a nurse, being a patient in a hospital where I didn’t fully understand the language was terrifying. I felt anxious and overwhelmed — and that experience opened my eyes to what international nurses go through every day. That’s why I created Fluent Nurse. I’ve combined my nursing background with my passion for teaching to help international nurses communicate clearly and confidently — whether you’re talking to patients, giving shift reports, or collaborating with the healthcare team.
